Plaza Del Sol

The piece I chose for the artlike competition brief was a photo I took in Madrid at Plaza Del Sol..
I was so overwhelmed after crawling out of the Amazon jungle as to what was actually happening in the rest of the world and landing in Spain after the elections was unbelievable as I was none the wiser.
The camps that had almost taken over the entire city were peaceful, communal and beautiful. Having no choice but to come together to be heard.
The photo always makes me smile especially due to all the repetitive boring bullshit always thrown in our face. Hollywood for example on the latest 2 remakes of Snow White.
Dare to be different.
No one these days seems to be.

Agideas 2012

I felt inspired and walked away my head tickling with new found hope..
I actually grueled a little at the thought of having to listen to 10 speakers drone on for 2 hours.
All speakers from varied artist fields were thankfully AMAZING.
It was not just what they did.
Sharing there journeys, enlighting us on how they actually got there with tricks of the trade a plenty turned out to be very interesting and much appreciated.
Turning simple ideas and passions in to art.
Sometimes discovered in the most profound ways..
Showing how creating something and putting out there anyway you can sometimes leads to discovery.
Making clear regardless to keep on trucking if it is what you love.
My favorite speaker was Shaun Tan.
His presentation was gorgeously led with his quirky illustrations.
How being true to himself and taking his childhood passions in to his adulthood is more than possible.
Some other speakers who got my attention were:
Dominic Di Giorgio.. Taking robotics beyond the grave.
Kerrie Stanley who showed me not doing anything all that special but having a big mouth and networking will get you everywhere.
Poras Chaundry who's story of dedication and patience was lovely.
Marian Bantjes opened my eyes to condiments and
Ree Treweek turning childhood fantasys in to youtubes falling face first in to beatle mania.
